What has your PCA been doing for you?
Your PCA team has been busy in 2023 with better member communication!
New texting platform, email videos, quarterly updates, biannual regional meetings and social media posts with important member only information. If you have missed out on these, please call the home office to be included: 717.420.9255 (call/text)
Insurance
- Highmark: negotiations for a higher cap
- UPMC: lowered the age to 7 without a referral, ability to diagnose headache, decreased their annual caps for max visits to 6 months instead of 12.
- Cigna: PCA joined the ACA to challenge the denial of all -25 on E/M’s.
- Medicaid: Continuing to work on fee increases.
- United: Continuing to work on coverage for acute and chronic
- Pennie: the PCA was successful in the inclusion of Chiropractic
Education
- Created a growing online CE library with reduced or free (CE and non-CE) content.
- Free to members for a limited time: A New 9-part Chiropractic Assistant training course available at pennchiro.org
- Monthly Lunch & Learn Webinars: Functional Nutrition Working Group live and on-demand.
Legislation
- The PCA Delegation Bill (HB630) was introduced with the goal of restoring your right to delegate therapeutic exercise.
- Scope of Practice Modernization Bill ready be introduced in 2024.
- Copay and Minimum reimbursement Bill coming in 2024
- Supported Medical Freedom Bill so that no medical procedure can be forced on anyone.
- Supporting Association Health Care Plans – So all PCA members can be in a single Healthcare program for much better rates on our all businesses
Advocacy
- Petitioned the state and WON reduced X-Ray renewal fees saving you $335 per year!
- Hosted Chiropractic Advocacy Day on the Hill with over 40 legislators gaining support for PCA
Legislative efforts. - Collaborated on many projects and found common ground with the Chiropractic Fellowship of PA
to help unify our profession. - Foundation for Chiropractic Partnership – PCA is partnering with a national chiropractic marketing
team to help promote chiropractic in your communities. Members will have access to print and digital material on monthly chiropractic topics. PCA will have statewide initiatives. - Partnered with the WCRI (Workers Compensation Research Institute) to get the first ever national study published on chiropractic effectiveness in the work comp system.
- Archiving history of Chiropractic in Pennsylvania – conducted dozens of interviews to save all the great chiropractic history that has occurred in PA
Whats next 2024

Scope modernization
Updating many definitions of what licensed chiropractors can do. Reflecting the modernization of Chiropractic to protect chiropractic from attacks from legislation and insurance companies. Visit: www.pennchiro.org/scope for more information.
Medicare modernization
This is a federal initiative getting full reimbursement for what our scope allows. I.e. exams, extremity adjusting, soft tissue, and rehab. PCA’s Legislative Team has secured co-sponsorship from 16 of the 18 legislators in PA.
Leadership
PCA President Elect, Dr. Andrew Heck, will be taking office along with 3 new board members. With new leadership comes new ideas and new opportunities.
Largest and best annual convention
May 4-5 in Lancaster will be our biggest and best convention yet offering 16 CE credits, 12 speakers, 30 vendors, and over 200 of your friends and colleagues.
New Membership Levels
with growing demographic of associates in PA, PCA has a new
associate membership level for only $300 that includes 12 Free CE credits per year.
Exploding-Copay Reform
Reign in exploding co-pays that now are higher than most billable services. Our neighboring states have passed similar bills.
